Mustio Announces $1 Million Grant for Moon Township Infrastructure Improvements
HARRISBURG – Rep. Mark Mustio (R-Allegheny) today announced that a $1 million grant has been awarded to the Allegheny County Airport Authority to pay for improvements to Ewing Road at the intersection of Cherrington Parkway in Moon Township. The grant was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through its Multimodal Transportation Fund.

“For years, job creators throughout Pennsylvania have cited the critical role that a sound and reliable transportation infrastructure plays for our state and local economies, especially when it comes to relieving traffic congestion, increasing safety and improving access to the Greater Pittsburgh International Airport,” said Mustio. “I applaud the Allegheny County Airport Authority for once again taking the lead to secure another important investment that will pay dividends for our region, both now and in years to come.”

Transportation improvements to support future development of vacant property and benefit the existing Pittsburgh International Business Park will include the widening of Ewing Run Road to provide for turning lanes, utility relocation and traffic signal modification. The total project cost is $1,818,816.

“The Moon Transportation Authority is thrilled to hear about Allegheny County Airport Authority’s award,” said Lynn Colosi, vice president, Delta Development Group. “The airport authority is an outstanding community partner and leader of economic initiatives in Moon Township. The MTA looks forward to working with the airport authority to accomplish infrastructure and safety improvements at Ewing Road and Cherrington Parkway, and set the stage for economic growth in the corridor.”

The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth. The funding may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
