Mark Mustio (R-Allegheny) to simplify and clarify the definition of an “independent contractor” under Pennsylvania’s Workers’ Compensation Act to allow sole proprietors, partners of a partnership, and officers of a Limited Liability Company (LLC) to purchase workers’ compensation insurance was signed into law by Gov. Tom Corbett today.

Senate-amended legislation sponsored by Rep. Mark Mustio (R-Allegheny) to simplify and clarify the definition of an “independent contractor” under the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act was unanimously enacted by the House, Friday, June 24, on concurrence.  House Bill 440 now advances to the governor’s desk for signature.

Today the state House of Representatives passed legislation to allow for transit competition within Allegheny County, Reps. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) and Mark Mustio (R-Allegheny) said.  The legislation, House Bill 10, will permit private companies or other regional transit systems to be able to deliver transit services within the county by eliminating bureaucratic red tape.
